At a very tender age, he was taken away as a slave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the ship taking slaves to American got to\nFreetown, the capital city&nbsp; of sierra Leone,\nhe was among those released. He received education at C.M. S primary school and\nFourah \u2013 Bay College. He studied theology in England, and he was ordained as Bishop\non June 28, 1864, thus becoming the first African Bishop. He married Anani who\nwas baptized as Susan Thompson. He traveled to Nigeria and he did most of his\nmissionary work at Abeokuta, Onitsha and Jebba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OUTSTANDING\nCONTRIBUTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He founded the Church Missionary society (CMS) and he\ntranslated the English Holy Bible and the Anglican hymn book into the Yoruba language.\nHe died on December 31, 1891.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lessons\nLearnt:<\/strong> God can make a nobody into a somebody. God can bring\nGood out of evil. Despite a slave he was the first African Bishop in Nigeria.\nWe should always pray to God to deliver us from dangers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MOSES\nORIMOLADE TUNOLASE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was born at Ikare Ondo State, Nigeria, in 1891. He\nis the founder of Cherubim and Seraphim Church. In 1925.He started preaching\nthe gospel in 1916.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OUTSTANDING\nPERFORMANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was bless with the power of healing through water,\ncandle and prayer. He did his missionary work in Lagos. He built a lot of\nsecondary schools through his missionary work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He died in 1933 at Osokoro, Lagos but later his\nremains were removed from Lagos and was buried at ikare, his home town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lessons\nLearnt:<\/strong> we should not be afraid to start something new as\nlong as it is the will of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>JOSEPH\nAYODELE BABALOLA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joseph Ayodele BAbalola was born in 19904 into a\nChristian home in Odo\u2013Owa&nbsp; Kwara State. He\ndid in primary school at Ago-Ijaye, &nbsp;Ebute\n\u2013Meta, and All Saints School, Osogbo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was first trained as a traditional Healer at\nOsogbo, he was a goldsmith and an apprentice driver with the former public\nworks Department (P.W.D),Osogbo. In 1928, God spoke to him to leave is job and\nbecome a preacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OUTSTANDING\nCONTRIBUTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He started his gospel work at Ilesha but made\nEfon-Alaaya his station. He used water and prayer to perform Miracles. He is\nthe founder of Christ Apostolic Church (C.A.C).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christ Apostolic Church Mission has established a\nlot of primary schools, secondary schools, teacher \u2013 training colleges,\nseminaries for training their pastors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He died at Ede,Oyo state in 1959. He was buried at\nEfon \u2013Alaaye in Ondo State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lessons\nlearnt: <\/strong>when God calls a person. He\/she should obey because\nGod will make the Person to achieve great things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WILLIAMS\nF.KUMUYI<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is a native of Erin-Ijesha, w.f Kumuyi was born on June\n6, 1941 into an Anglican home. He started school in 1951.He attended Mayflower\nSchool, Ikenne and passed out in 1961.he learnt atheism and lost interest in\nchurch. He later heard a gospel messages when a gospel church came to preach in\nthe school in 1963. On April 5, 1964, he was born again and he got involved\nwith the Scripture Union and grew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He attended the University of Ibadan and graduated\nwith first \u2013class degree in Mathematics in 1967.and later obtained a post graduate\ncertificate in Education and he became a lecturer in 1973; he started Deeper\nLife Bible study Group. The church is one of the largest churches in Nigeria\nand in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Outstanding\nContributions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He founded deeper life bible church in 1973, at the University\nof Lagos. He started an interdenominational Bible study Group in 1973 on Monday\nevening with fifteen adults.in December, 1975 the first deeper life retreat was\nheld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He founded the International Bible Training Center to\ndevelop soul-winners, church planters, character builders, and full time\nminister and Christian workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ANTHONY\nOLUBUNMI OKOGIE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anthony Olubunmi Okogie was born on 16 June, 1936. In Lagos,\nNigeria. He was ordained a priest on 11 December, 1966.he holds a licentiate in\nsacred theology in Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He served as pastoral assistant at the holy cross\ncathedral in Lagos. He joined the army as a chaplain and he was appointed catholic\nreligion instructor and a chaplain in Kings College on 29 August, 1971, he was\nordained titular Bishop of Mascula and Auxiliary of Oyo. He was transferred to Lagos,\nas Auxiliary Bishop, then on 13 April, 1973.he was nominated Archbishop of Lagos.\nAnd he was proclaimed the cardinal by john Paul II on 21 October, 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outstanding Performance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He played a role in the Christian Association of\nNigeria (CAN), and later became President of CAN. He also served as President\nof the Bishops Conference of Nigeria from 1994 \u2013 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He contributed greatly to the growth off catholic denomination.\nHe was a human rights crusader and a lover of justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SUNDAY\nMBANG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sunday Mbang was born on August 26, 1936. He was born\ninto a clergy family. He went in music after completing his school certificate\nexamination. He was called to serve as a priest of the Methodist Church shortly\nafter the death of his father. Since then he has grown in faith. He hold a doctorate\nagree from Harvard School of Divinity. He always stand for justice, equity and\nfairness in the affairs of the nation. He retired in November, 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Outstanding\nContributions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was former president of the Christian Association\nof Nigeria and also the prelate and head of the Methodist Church of Nigeria,\namong the leader of the Methodist Church in Africa, and also president of the\nword Methodist Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was able to revive the oneness in the Methodist\nChurch. Thereby saving the church from disintegration and foster spirituality\namong believers.
