The earth axis is the imaginary line that pass through the\ncentre of the earth, when the earth rotates from the west to the east. It is\nthe rotation of the earth that causes night and day. When the earth rotates,\nonly one half of it faces the sun, so the sun will give the earth light which\nwe as human call the day time, while the other side which does not receive the\nlight from the sun, will be dark at that time and we will say it is night time\nin such places. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It takes twenty four (24) hours to complete\na rotation around the earth axis. That is day and night (one day). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>NIGHT AND DAY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sun is a big ball of burning gas\nand it is the primary source of light and heat. Day time begins as the sun\nrises from the east and Night time begins when the sun sets to the west.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>REVOLUTION OF THE EARTH ROUND THE\nSUN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Revolution\nof the earth occurs when the earth moves round the sun. It takes a year or 365\ndays for a complete revolution of the earth. The ELLIPSE is the part of the\nearth round the sun. The revolution of the earth round the sun is from east to\nwest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>THE EFFECT OF THR REVOLUTION OF THE\nEARTH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some\npart of the earth receives more sunlight than others at a particular time\nbecause of the revolution of the earth. These also lead to different season in\nthe earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>THE SEASONS IN NIGERIA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In Nigeria, we have two major\nseasons. These are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Wet\nSeason<\/li><li>Dry\nSeason<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>We also have HARMATTAN PERIOD<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; DRY SEASON<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Nigeria we experience dry season\nbetween the months of October and February. During this season the weather will\nbe very hot and dry. This means that a large amount of the sun\u2019s rays reach\nNigeria during this period of the earth revolution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;During dry season, between the months of\nDecember and February, there is a special period called the <strong>HARMATTAN PERIOD.<\/strong> At this period the\nweather will be hot and dry during the day but in the night and early mornings,\nit will be cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nWET SEASON<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nigerians experience a lot of rain\nfall between the months of March and September.
